(HAPPY VALLEY, Ore. ) - A woman bystander is being credited for saving the life of a 6-year-old girl after finding her at the bottom of an apartment complex pool in Happy Valley, Ore. Sergeant Nathan Thompson with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office says deputies and medical personnel were called to the Greenleaf Monterey Apartments located at 8640 SE Causey Ave just after 6:00 p.m. The victim was described as unconscious, unresponsive and not breathing and that CPR was being performed by a bystander. When deputies and medics arrived they found the 6-year-old girl conscious, alert and breathing in the apartment's recreation centers pool area. The bystander, Domiteala Galvez, had found the girl motionless at the bottom of the deep end of the pool. She removed her from the water and performed rescue breaths until she regained consciousness, Thompson said. She was at the pool with her cousins and had been properly supervised. She was transported by ambulance to Emanuel Hospital, and is in good condition at this time. The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office reminds everyone to keep a close eye on others around water, and to get trained in CPR. It could save a life as it did in this incident. _________________________________________
