(HAPPY VALLEY, Ore.) - A Happy Valley man died of multiple stabs wounds sustained during a fight Sunday on the corner of SE 85th Avenue & SE Causey Avenue, in Happy Valley. Officials there hope somebody from the public can help identify the assailant. Detective Jim Strovink, Public Information Officer with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, says the incident took place Sunday morning at 12:45 a.m. 25-year old Jose Ramirez-Navarro and 18-year old Manuel A. Salmeron, were reportedly involved in a fight with another group of Hispanic males. Strovink said, "During this physical altercation Mr. Jose Ramirez-Navarro sustained a severe stab wound to his abdomen, and Mr. Manuel Salmeron was stabbed in the leg." He explains that responding Clackamas County Sheriff's deputies and medical personnel located Mr. Jose Ramirez-Navarro lying unconscious on the sidewalk of SE 85th Avenue. He was immediately taken by ambulance to Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital in Portland. "Regrettably, at approximately 3:18 a.m. Mr. Jose Ramirez-Navarro died at OHSU as a result of his sustained injuries. The deceased, Mr. Jose Ramirez-Navarro, resided on SE 67th Avenue, in Portland," Strovink said. "Later that morning, Mr. Manuel Salmeron walked into Kaiser Hospital seeking medical treatment for his stab wound. He was admitted as a trauma patient and transferred to Emanuel hospital by ambulance." Strovink says Manuel Salmeron was treated for his leg injury and released from Emanuel hospital. Clackamas County Sheriff's detectives say they are continuing vigorously with this ongoing murder/assault investigation. "Once again, the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office urges anyone with information concerning this crime to the contact the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office's confidential Tip Line -- by phone at 503-723-4949." You can also submit a tip by using the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office online e-mail form, or submit a text crime tip message to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office from a cell phone. All users have to do is send a text message to CRIMES, or numerically 274637 on your phone keypad -- with the keyword CCSO as the first word in the message body. Strovink offers one important Reminder, that is to please not send emergency messages using the text messaging system – In case of an emergency call 911.
