Operation Red Dragonfly Brings Hardcore Veteran Health Outreach to America

This is the beginning of a movement to reach thousands, then millions.

Motorcycle ride for Vets
Special thanks to tobefast.com -

(SAN FRANCISCO) - Veteran outreach needs to become radicalized, and it must become a constant effort. So I ask, what are you willing to do? We publish news about Veterans health constantly, but this summer I will ride a motorcycle all over the USA to give presentations about Veterans health issues. We are calling it Operation Red Dragonfly.

I could use your help. We aren't looking for that much and there will be fundraising events along the way, but more is needed to get this show on the road.

Many people who served in the military were exposed to deadly cancer-causing toxins. Most are not aware and they need to be reached, because knowledge can save a person's life.

We need people who care about Veterans to chip in. I am happy to announce that others are jumping in. Sacramento Motorcycle Rentals is providing a late model Honda VFR 800 Interceptor for the journey, and people all over the US are getting involved as regional organizers. We need to continue organizing and firming up locations and plans.

Tim is planning his route, if you know of a venue for Tim to speak, then please let us know via the email address, tim@journalist.com. You can also write to our regular email address, newsroom@salem-new.com.

Some of the locations already on the map:

Santa Rosa, California
Coos Bay, Oregon
Salem, Oregon
Baker City, Oregon
Seattle, Washington
Boise, Idaho
Camp Lejeune, North Carolina
Tucson, Arizona
Yuma, Arizona
Atlanta, Georgia
Daytona Beach, Fla
Boston, Massachusetts
Ozark, Mo
Pittsburg, Pa,
(city undetermined) Ohio,
Somerdale, New Jersey

The person doing the most is Sheree Evans of Ozark, Missouri. Her husband, Tommy, died from his exposure to Agent Orange from serving his country as a Marine in Vietnam. Sheree contacted me years ago and I wrote about the life she and Tommy had. We have been friends ever since, and in fact that is how I have met dozens of similar people over the years, Salem-News.com is one of the primary news Websites people find when they search for the type of advocacy and coverage we offer for Vets and their loved ones.

Sheree and Tommy Evans

'Tiger' Sheree Evans said about the ride:

"I am representing Missouri for the Operation Red Dragonfly!! I challenge all other states to buck up to the challenge, for a fundraiser-for Tim King who is doing an amazing Awareness for our veterans Health care, to help him with his 48 state Journey. Unselfishly doing it for fighting men!! He deserves a Grand Welcome, and thank you! in each state. Take Care of Tim, Ride-Please donate for his cause, and take care of my brother, he took care of you along with so many others, so we can enjoy our freedoms today!! Support Tim - with Brotherly Love - Have a Heart!! May God Bless!! Love, your sister Tiger, Sheree Evans"

Co-authored by Robert O'Dowd & Tim King,

efforts to prevent Marines from knowing they
were exposed to deadly toxic water. Order

BETRAYAL from Amazon

From the time Salem-News.com was launched nine years ago, we have been reporting Veteran's health issues. We have a Professor of Pharmacology / Forensic Toxicologist on our team, Dr. Phil Leveque, who has been addressing this issue for nearly half a century, he is a WWII Combat Vet.

There are so many unaddressed issues, so much that Veterans are unaware of. The biggest problem is money. The US government contaminated its own and now it doesn't want to pay for its decisions. This is sad, and the media holds Veterans prisoner essentially, by denying them the information that could save their lives. The media is largely void of Veterans and this does not help. I will not only speak to Vets and their families, I will leave information that will guide them in finding resources. Nine years of Veteran advocacy has allowed Salem-News.com to grow and maintain a large base of contacts. Many specialize in detailed information about specific places and health problems.

Toxic water, toxic air, direct contact with extremely dangerous VOCs and in some cases, far too many in fact... exposure to radioactivity.

Once Veterans are exposed to the information about toxic bases, they can determine how it may apply to them.

Each talk will vary based on the region and audience. Areas with more Vets from Iraq and Afghanistan, will hear more about specific issues including exposure to DU (depleted uranium) and Hexavalent chromium; they will learn options for dealing with TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury), and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), also a subject that will be discussed in areas with larger populations of Vietnam Veterans who will also receive the latest information on Agent Orange and other specific issues.

As I make my way from state to state, I will gather the remaining footage for a documentary on PTSD that I have been working on since 2008, when I went to Iraq to interview soldiers and Marines about this problem while they are still on active duty, deployed in war.

While Veterans of different US wars will be specifically addressed, this journey holds an even bigger purpose. Veterans did not have to serve in any war to have been exposed to deadly toxins. My former base, Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, is heavily contaminated with numerous volatile organic compounds (VOCs). One of the worst is trichloroethylene (TCE) and this is a problem all over the United States and in other countries where Americans had or still have bases. Along with Robert O'dowd, I am a co-author of the book now on Amazon Kindle, BETRAYAL: Toxic Exposure of U.S. Marines, Murder and Government Cover-Up.

I want this effort to be successful and I hope people can find it in themselves to help make it happen. We would like to see this become an annual event with more riders.

Thanks, it is sure a biased country we live in isn't it? The stuffed suits at the WSJ have no business writing about bikers.

Who is going to edit the news while you're on the road?

We'll have some people filling in and I will work on it at night.  I think my nephew's going to help edit, everybody loves a volunteer!...

Dexter July 16, 2013 11:38 am (Pacific time)

Be safe out there mate, and try not to get any speeding tickets with that bike lol.

Luke Easter July 15, 2013 5:39 pm (Pacific time)

I see, "I've Got Your 6" commercials and I have to laugh. They say in the military it means, "I've Got your Back" which is a bunch of CRAP. If that was true there'd be no serious need for, Operation Red Dragonfly. BTW, wonder how much those stars were paid to appear in those Hilarious spots?

Nory July 15, 2013 3:10 pm (Pacific time)

My uncle is doing something to help people who served this country, please support his work, stand behind his mission and donate to this trip!  I hope someday to be half the man he is!
