(AMITY, Ore.) - A 19-year old Salem resident died and an Idaho man received minor injuries Saturday morning in a collision involving a commercial truck and passenger car on Lafayette Highway at Amity Road about three miles east of Amity.

The victim's name is being released following next of kin notification. The highway re-opened about 4:00 p.m. Oregon State Police Lieutenant Marlene West says Saturday at approximately 10:15 a.m. a 1993 Subaru four-door driven by 19-year old Landon Thomas Kuenzi of Salem, was northbound on Lafayette Highway when, for an unknown reason, it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 2005 Kenworth truck pulling a box semi-trailer loaded with unknown goods.

Landon Kuenzi was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The truck's driver, 46-year old Douglas F. Odegaard of Post Falls, Idaho received minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Willamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville for treatment.

West says both occupants were using safety restraints.

OSP troopers from the McMinnville Area Command office are continuing the investigation with the assistance of the Multi-Agency Traffic Team comprised of officers from Yamhill County Sheriff's Office, McMinnville Police Department, and Newberg Police Department.

Amity Fire Department and ODOT assisted at the scene.

Here it is almost three years later. I never met Landon, but my husband and him were best friends through high school. They say everything happens for a reason and I'm beginning to see this. If it weren't for Landon's death I would've never met my husband and we would've never had our son, whom we named after Landon Kuenzi, Landon Thomas Hill

I'm very good friends with the cousins of this man...it's a very hard time for them so if you could keep their and Landon's families in your thoughts and prayers, we would very much appreciate it.
