(McMINNVILLE, Ore. ) - Oregon State Police are continuing to investigate a Tuesday morning crash between a truck and pickup on Ore. Highway 99E between Amity and McMinnville.

Oregon State Police spokesman Lt. Gregg Hastings says one person was seriously injured when the truck he was driving slammed into the rear of a stopped pickup just before noon.

The pickup was driven by 54-year-old Joel Stockhoff from Dayton, and was stopped southbound on Highway 99W waiting to turn left onto SE Whiteson Road when it was struck from behind by an Isuzu box truck. After impact, the truck stopped off the highway on the right shoulder.

The Isuzu truck's driver, 52-year-old Thomas Norton, from Portland, was seriously injured and had to be extricated by firefighters from Amity Fire District and McMinnville Fire Department. Norton was transported by LifeFlight to Oregon Health & Science University with non-life threatening injury.

Stockhoff was taken by ground ambulance with minor injury to Willamette Valley Medical Center.

ODOT also responded to assist with traffic control. The highway was closed about an hour.
