Oregon State Penitentiary Slowly Returns to Normal Operations

(SALEM, Ore. ) - The Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem is slowly returning to normal operations following an incident that occurred on Thursday.

Oregon's oldest correctional institution was placed on lockdown Thursday following a large fight between inmates in the institution's dining room.

An ongoing investigation is being conducted to determine the cause of the incident.

Regular visiting will resume on Sunday.

OSP houses approximately 2,000 adults in custody and is the state's only maximum security prison.
