(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Police in Portland along with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife responded Friday afternoon to multiple reports of a cougar in a tree in the neighborhood of Northeast 121st and Northeast Stanton Street.

Police have closed off the area as ODFW officials deal with the animal. Portland police say there were three other calls Friday about Cougar sightings if different parts of the city.

Officers responded to the calls, but no cougars were located.

These incidents are the latest in a string of cougar sightings in the Portland-Metro area.

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife says if you come across a cougar in your neighborhood, do not approach it. Stop where you are and make yourself appear as big as possible.

When it is safe to move, call your local police department, or the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife immediately.
