(SALEM, Ore. ) - A former Oregon Army National Guard Soldier from Aumsville will spend nearly nine years in prison for assaulting his ex-girlfriends 6-month-old son.

Robert Pinsky was convicted of first-degree assault in a Marion County Courtroom and Judge Vance Day sentenced Pinksy to 105 months in prison, and he is not able to receive any time off of his Measure 11 sentence.

In April 2013, Pinsky brought Roy Fast Jr., who was unconscious, to the Stayton Hospital emergency room and said the boy had fallen off a couch in the apartment he shared with Fast's mom, Shaanon Crouch.

However, doctors said the boy's injuries, including a skull fracture and broken leg, did not match up with the story Pinksy told, and called police.

Doctors did not expect Fast to survive, but he did, and the boy has permanent brain damage family members told Fox-12.

Fox-12 in Portland reported that Pinsky's attorney pointed out his client has no criminal history and drugs and alcohol were not involved in the assault. He said Pinsky, a National Guard soldier, has been receiving treatment for PTSD symptoms since 2008, although the VA has not diagnosed him.

I reviewed the court document's and the news left a lot of important information out. Likewhen that guy took the kid to the er there were 0 signs of hold abuse recorded by er personnel. There were prior signs of brain injuries from what was speculated as old child abuse prior to those two being together. News left a lot out

The court document's are available. All er staff reported 0 signs of abuse when admitted to er. No fracture or broken bones were found until days later, along with prior signs of abuse. The "fracture" on the head was a old fracture more likely than not from old injuries matched with prior brain injuries noted in the court document's.The news did a poor job covering this, only covered partial evidence that looked bad. Shows how corrupt the system can be.

Nice to know that many of his future bunk mates will make his life a living hell when they find out.

Good to see justice served. Why someone would do this to such a small child and leave him brain damaged, I guess it would only be fair for him to suffer the same fate.
