(SALEM, Ore. ) - The Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem has been placed on lockdown Thursday following a large fight between inmates.

Visiting is canceled until further notice.

OSP officials say at 12:20 p.m., approximately 30 inmates were involved in an altercation in the dining room, prompting OSP guards to place the institution on lockdown.

No one required outside medical treatment. An investigation is being conducted to determine the cause of the incident.

OSP is Oregon's oldest correctional institution. It houses approximately 2,000 adults in custody and is the state's only maximum security prison.
