(SALEM, Ore.) - Just at the crest of its popularity Salem-News.com's ever-popular comic strip Nota Bene by Leonard ceases following it's one-hundredth issue. (see: salem-news.com/notabene/index.php)

The creator of Nota Bene, Leonardo of Salem, AKA Glen Bledsoe, has been busy generating the completely unique Oregon cartoon strip since the first edition was published on Salem-News.com August 6th, 2006. Poignant and politically relevant, the series utilizes movie frames highly customized through Glen's unique touch. The new series, Benny and Sid`s Your Public Service Announcements, is more unique; the artwork in the new series is entirely created by Glen from scratch. Few people seem to enjoy their professional careers more than Glen and Karen Bledsoe. When Glen joined Salem-News.com he was working as a university professor. Today he is lending his skills toward an even more important set; elementary school students.

Tim King of Salem-News.com praises the old series and says the staff is very excited about Glen's latest addition. "It is so extremely unique to see a comic strip come to life and captivate people the way Nota Bene has. I admit that I really love that style, but the new series is going to be even more fun. It seems inevitable that the new format will incorporate even more of Glen's personality and I honestly think that is the magic ingredient in the first place."

King adds that this is a pure expression of an Oregon artist, presented the way all information on Salem-News.com is; without a corporate microscope. "Glen and myself and Henry Ruark and others on our team including Bonnie King and Dr. Phil Leveque, take our roles in the world very seriously. Glen may have a ton of fun with his cartoon series, but the subjects it touches on are as serious as they can be. It seems everything in the world is going that way, so this vibrant comic series is a good way to get the story while keeping a smile- sort of like our own version of "The Daily Show".

Born and raised in Indiana, Glen L. Bledsoe graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelors of Art in Fine Arts and was a student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for several years. Glen made his home in Oregon in the early 80's where he says he continues to enjoy the mild climate and lack of sales tax.

He and his wife Karen have published seventeen books together for the school library market. Glen has written extensively on the issues of technology and education for the National Education Association and other publications.

When he not is creating "Nota Bene by Leonardo," or "Benny and Sid`s Your Public Service Announcements," Glen is either teaching, writing a novel, composing music, or reading.

In case you haven't seen it yet, here is the first installation of the new series: Benny and Sid`s #1 Your Public Service Announcements

Thanks, Kevin, for your kind words. Benny and Sid should allow me to look at things from a different prospective than Nota Bene. I needed to reinvent my approach to comics.

I hail from the east coast, but I love Glenn's work and I look forward to seeing his new comic adventures. Kevin
