(SALEM, Ore. ) - A man from Newberg, Oregon has a lot to be thankful for after Oregon Lottery Officials told him his losing lottery ticket -- actually became a winner. James Colburn of Newberg didn’t throw away his losing Cash Flurries scratch-it, instead he went to the Oregon Lottery’s website and registered the ticket for a chance to win the top prize should nobody claim the original winning prize. According to the Oregon Lottery, Colburn had a 1 in 96,000 chance of winning the top prize, but that narrowed to one in 23,749 -- based on the number of registered losing tickets -- and when nobody won the top prize of $100,000, a second chance drawing was held. After taxes, Colburn will get about $67,000.
