Oregon Murder Suspect Arrested in Arizona

Marcus Orozco faces charges of Aggravated Murder, Murder, Robbery 1st degree, Burglary 1st degree, and Felon in Possession of Firearm.

Deputies in Maricopa County, Arizona arrested an Oregon murder suspect Tuesday who has successfully eluded authorities for six years.

Lt. Jason Gates with the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office says 33-year old Marcus Kelo Orozco was wanted in connection with a 2001 murder involving a robbery attempt.

Gates says it began on February 12th, 2001, at an apartment at 50 Kerr Parkway in Lake Oswego.

Marcus Orozco and three accomplices, Damien Douglas, Jeremy Pomerenke, and one unnamed suspect, contacted 25-year old Joshua Toomey who was allegedly dealing in large quantities of marijuana supplied by associates of an Asian gang called the Red Cobras. Toomey was in possession of over 60 pounds of marijuana.

According to court records, the four organized a plan to rob Toomey of money and/or drugs. During the robbery Toomey was shot in the chest and killed.

Douglas and Orozco fled the scene on foot, and Pomerenke fled in a vehicle as a person associated with Toomey engaged in a gun battle with them.

Multnomah County Major Crimes Team and Lake Oswego PD detectives conducted an extensive investigation that led to the arrest of Pomerenke and Douglas.

Pomerenke was charged and convicted for Robbery 1st degree, Robbery 2nd degree, Attempt Assault 1st degree, Burglary 1st degree and Felon in Possession of a Firearm related to this case. He is currently incarcerated in Oregon State Prison with a projected release date of 2017.

Douglas was charged and convicted for Attempt Aggravated Murder and Murder related to this case. He is currently incarcerated in Oregon State Prison on a life sentence.

Further investigation led to the development of evidence against Marcus Orozco for Aggravated Murder, Murder, Robbery 1st degree, Burglary 1st degree, and Felon in Possession of Firearm.

A warrant was issued for his arrest, but Gates says he has been able to avoid capture for the past six years.

On Tuesday, Orozco, using the alias Emilio Verdugo, was finally taken into custody in Phoenix, AZ by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

Multnomah County will be seeking extradition of Orozco to stand trial for the listed charges.

Pomerenke AKA Tim Fastway. Who was dating the victims ex girlfriend at the time Received 15 years because he plead guilty and was the first and best witness for the prosecution, his cousin Richard McEachern, and Nguyen DO, were the brainless "masterminds" got no time at all. The reasoning was that the victim owed some money to Nguyen and also allegedly set his vehicle on fire. Marcus walked up to the apartment having ordered 5lbs of marijuana. Josh answered the door and said "where's the money" Marcus had a 357 in his hand and pointed it at Joshua's chest . Josh was no punk he was gangster as they come . Grabbed the gun Marcus was surprised and fired into his chest . Toomey kept the fight up but was dying lil brother came down to help and Marcus turned and ran screaming "help me Damien " lil brother got a few shots off unfortunately it was loaded with birdsshot. And Damien a solid gangster himself returned fire saving Marcus's sister .

If I'm interrupting this article correctly, 3 men are involved in a drug deal/robbery gone wrong. One man ends up dead (rest his soul) .....Orozco gets gets 25 years, Douglas gets life, but pomerenke is already up for release this year. Am I missing something? A man died due to the crimes of all 3 parties. Sentcing should be equal.

Marcus Is a Good Man Yes he did something bad but Everyone makes mistakes nobody is picture perfect and this was a big mistake and i bet regrets what he did. He will learn and when he gets out i know things will change and he will be a better man.
