(NEW YORK) - According to new public polls Tuesday, Hillary Clinton is opening up a significant lead over both Democrats and Republicans in the key battleground state of Ohio, and has a substantial lead over her primary opposition in New Hampshire. The polls in these individual states echo the trend of recent national polls showing Clinton leading in the race for President. According to the new Quinnipiac poll of Ohio voters, Clinton leads every Republican in a general election matchup, and every Democrat in a primary matchup by a 3 to 1 margin. "Those who say Sen. Hillary Clinton can't win the White House because she can't win a key swing state like Ohio might rethink their assumption," said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. "While it's a long way -- 21 months -- to Election Day, these numbers indicate that at this point she is very competitive in Ohio." In addition, another key new poll shows Hillary opening a substantial lead in New Hampshire. According to the SurveyUSA poll conducted for WBZ-TV Boston, Hillary leads her nearest rival by 15 points in the primary. These polls come on the heels of a recent Newsweek poll showing Hillary leading every Democratic and Republican contender she was matched up against, and a Time poll showing her leading the Democratic field and tying John McCain in a general election matchup. "If Hillary leads in Ohio at this point in the race -- the key state that gave the last election to the Republicans -- then this confirms that Hillary can win and is today winning. She is the strongest Democrat in what was the most difficult state," said Clinton chief strategist and pollster Mark Penn. In general election matchups, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll finds: Sen. Clinton squeaks by Arizona Sen. John McCain 46 - 42 percent; Clinton inches by former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani 46 - 43 percent; Clinton tops former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney 52 - 31 percent; McCain edges Illinois Sen. Barack Obama 41 - 38 percent; Former Vice Presidential candidate John Edwards edges McCain 44 - 41 percent. Giuliani leads McCain 30 - 22 percent among Ohio Republicans. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich gets 11 percent and Romney gets 4 percent. Among Ohio Democrats, 38 percent pick Clinton, followed by 13 percent for Obama, 11 percent for Edwards and 6 percent for former Vice President Al Gore.

Hillary in the oval office w/ Biden as vice would be like Gloria Steinem and rev. Bob Tilton running the show.

Bubba? I heard you could tell he was lying to you as soon as his lips moved! Would there be a surge effect from the administration if Monica came a callin'?.,would emotional instability be the order of the day? speaking as a gambler I wouldn't bet on her capabilities.

jafo; February 1, 2007 2:00 am (Pacific time)

gregg,"we should be glad to let him hang around"? Who's we?, and as I recall the only reason he was elected was because he ran against George Bush Sr. and the Mighty Quayle..,and the only thing he did last time Was hang around the White House.,(pardon the unintended pun).,so I ask you, compared to what?

Osotan; January 31, 2007 10:17 pm (Pacific time)

Gregg.,it's Osotan..,Osatan is my brother., and I never listen to him.,he's very outspoken and reactionary.,some say "subversive". If you want Hillary then vote for her, and I agree Bubba is marginally better than the imbecile in the present position.,that's not the point. What did Clinton do for America that wasn't for Bubba.,as I remember he was a little less than truthful with two or three scandals as well as being caught in an outright lie to his immediate family let alone the coountry.? Howard Zinn is an Amercan historian and author and his read-out on the Clintons very illuminating."The Peoples History Of America 1492-Present". And who are his friends now?.,He attends speaking engagemants with former president G.H.W. Bush Sr. and gets paid more than the aid and funds he raises for the people he pretends to be concerned about.,he goes around the world doing this as an occupation and is another used car dealer to me.,they are Democrats in name only and she'd spend the first four years trying to smooth feathers rather than save the lives of our troops and those others in harms way. I will also vote.,good luck to both of us and in good spirit good luck to Hillary too.,maybe I'm wrong. It would only be the second time in my life., but maybe.

Dear Osatan..."Bubba is in the wings waiting for a plum appointment?" Are you kidding? He was the President of the U.S. (and a pretty good one, esp compared to the current imbecile)...what possible appointment would be "plum" compared to his prev title? We should be glad if he wants to hang around the White House while his wife is busy being president...he always has something of value to contribute. I like Pelosi and Obama too, but Hillary is far more capable and experienced. I know why the GOP fears her, but I cannot understand why some Dems devalue her...she is the real deal, U think.

wahoo! news; January 30, 2007 5:16 pm (Pacific time)

Flash!; Oregon senator Ron Wyden's plan to stop sales of military hardware to Iran and the rest of the world stops Pentagon in their tank treads! Pentagon official Hooper says this activity now stopped and "under review",and if I'm not mistaken it's the pentagon's fastest reaction this reporter's ever seen! Ron isn't waiting for an exploritory panel to start the changes voiced by the new leaderahip emerging from last November's clear statement to this administration.,"The Times They Are a Changin'",and I thank you Mr. Wyden for walking the talk!

Osotan January 30, 2007 4:04 pm (Pacific time)

Pelosi-Obama!!., President and Vice president.,James Webb as sec. def.., and Hillary? I can't believe her and amazed others fall for her emptiness., is "Bubba" waiting in the wings for a nice plum appointment? I think Nancy Pelosi's got it hands down! We need a change, and Hillary, the elitest, is just another face. Vote for a real change!

Sue January 30, 2007 1:24 pm (Pacific time)

Albert you are right regarding Giuliani. He sent the people of New York back to their homes knowing that the air was not safe. He is a sleezy creep!

Albert Marnell January 30, 2007 10:19 am (Pacific time)

I would vote for her only because she is objectively brighter than the lesser of about 20 evils. Don't get fooled by Giuliani as some kind of a 9/11 hero. Ask his ex-wife Donna Hanover for the truth....not that she will tell you. Anyone that hangs around Berie Kerik, is a real dishonerable piece of shot.
