(SALEM) - A traffic stop in Salem Saturday evening resulted in the arrest of one person after approximately 9 ounces of crystal methamphetamine was located in the vehicle. The suspect initially provided a false name but further follow-up positively identified him as a fugitive from Washington State wanted on an outstanding child rape warrant. At approximately 6:15 PM, Oregon State Police Northern Command Center received information of a vehicle believed to have been involved in a drug deal along Interstate 5 in the Albany area. Shortly after the report, an OSP trooper spotted the 1991 Jeep Cherokee on a Salem city street and stopped it. During the stop, a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 9 ounces of crystal methamphetamine. The driver was taken into custody for Possession of a Controlled Substance and lodged in the Marion County Jail. A check of fingerprints through the Automated Fingerprint Identification System determined the suspect's true identity was 28-year-old Adan Castaneda-Perez , age 28, from Seattle, Washington. Castaneda-Perez remains in custody at the jail on charges of Fugitive From Justice and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Police do not have information regarding the incident that led to the Washington State warrant, but Washington law does indicate 2nd Degree Rape of a Child involves a victim who is 12 - 14 years old and the offender is at least 36 months older than the victim.
