OSP Investigating Corvallis Man's Death

According to witnesses, vehicles of interest are a white SUV, possibly a GMC Yukon, and a maroon van with tinted windows, similar to a Chevrolet Astro Van.

(CORVALLIS) - Oregon State Police are asking for the public's help related to an investigation into the death of a Corvallis man killed Saturday night when he was struck by a vehicle while on Highway 34 just east of Corvallis.

At approximately 9:30 PM, witnesses reportedly saw a man laying in the left eastbound lane of Highway 34 near milepost 1.

The male was struck by at least one vehicle and was deceased at the scene.

There were no vehicle(s) stopped at the scene who struck the man.

The victim was identified as 47-year-old Christopher Thomas Hough, from Corvallis.

Troopers had received reports of a subject walking in the roadway a short time before the crash and were en route to the area when they received a report that a person had been struck.

According to witnesses, vehicles of interest are a white SUV, possibly a GMC Yukon, and a maroon van with tinted windows, similar to a Chevrolet Astro Van.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call Oregon State Police Northern Command Center at (800) 452-7888. Trooper Scott Hite is the lead investigator.

Troopers from the Albany Area Command are continuing the investigation.

They were assisted at the scene by the Corvallis Police Department, Corvallis Fire Department, the Oregon Department of Transportation, and members of the Linn County Multi-Agency Accident Investigation Team from the Albany and Lebanon Police Departments.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 34 were closed for approximately four hours, but one lane of traffic was open in each direction.
