(LINCOLN CITY) - Friends, family, and Dory Cove clam chowder enthusiasts will have a chance Saturday to help the restaurants 32 employees who are still in need of some financial assistance after a 2-alarm fire ripped through the historic Oregon coast restaurant on Nov. 29th The fundraiser will be held from 6:00 PM to midnight in the Chinook Winds Golf Course Banquet Room, at the Chinook Winds Casino & Resort in Lincoln City. The family-owned and operated restaurant, located at 5819 Logan Road in Lincoln City, had been serving Lincoln City residents and coastal visitors for more than 33 years, creating traditions for hundreds, even thousands. Roy Johnson and the Neal family opened the Dory Cove for business on July 1st, 1973. Current owners are Ron Smith and Roy's son, Dave Johnson. The two men say they hope to rebuild the restaurant someday, and that the thousands of letters from well wishers has kept the families and employees of the restaurant going thru this difficult time. North Lincoln Fire & Rescue fire investigators say the cause of the fire remains under investigation. An account has also been established at Wells Fargo Bank for anyone who wishes to help financially. Tickets for the event are $25, and they are available at the door, or by calling (541) 996-5825.
