(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - The days are getting longer and for some that can only mean one thing – more time to go fishing! The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has posted the 2008 weekly trout stocking schedule for the Northwest and Willamette zones on ODFW’s web site: dfw.state.or.us/resources/fishing/trout_stocking_schedules/

In the South Willamette Watershed, nearly 1,000 trophy-sized trout will be stocked in the EE Wilson and Junction City Ponds throughout the year. In many of the popular fishing areas like, Detroit Lake, Foster and Dorena Reservoirs, and the McKenzie River, large stockings of legal-sized trout will occur throughout the spring and summer.

More than 3,000 trophy-sized trout will be released into the North Willamette Watershed with a big push in August at Harriet and Trillium Lakes, and West Salish ponds. Henry Hagg Lake and North Fork Reservoir will also receive many large stockings of legal-sized trout throughout the year.

Over 4,000 trophy-sized trout will be released into North Coast Watershed lakes including 500 trophy trout at Coffenbury Lake in September and several releases of trophy trout into Cleawox Lake throughout the year.

"The trophy trout program gives anglers an opportunity to catch a rainbow weighing up to two pounds," says Hal Boldt, Fish Liberation Coordinator. "The other considerable-sized trout stockings we do are great and give anglers of all ages and skill levels a fun day of fishing and a chance to catch their limit of fish."

The site contains the most current stocking schedule for 2008 including water bodies, dates stocked, number of fish and size of fish. Stocking occurs during the week of the date listed. Anglers in the Northwest part of the state are invited to call (971) 673-6000 and press option (2) after 2 p.m. for a list of water bodies stocked each day. The schedule is subject to change due to water conditions or equipment malfunction.
