Warning: High Water Can Be Anywhere

High water was the cause for this accident Tuesday morning. Photo courtesy: Canby Fire

(Canby) - High water isn't just in the areas around rivers and creeks. According to the Canby Fire District, the low areas in fields in the Canby area are full of water that is now getting on the roadways. The same is true for much of western Oregon at this time. Tuesday morning there were two motor vehicle accidents caused by high water in the Canby area. Canby Fire personnel suggest drivers slow down and leave a little earlier to get where they are going. With the difficult weather conditions combined with darkness, the water is very hard to see on the roadways. The lessons in driving under these conditions are simply to expect the unexpected, and to not take any unnecessary chances. Making sure someone knows your travel plans, and taking your cell phone with you are `better safe than sorry" habits that have been saving lives for years.
