(RANIER, Ore.) - Oregon State troopers say a Clatskanie-area woman died Friday evening when her car crashed into a sport utility vehicle on Highway 52 west of Rainier.

Sergeant Larry Lucas with Oregon State Police, says it was approximately 6:00 PM when a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire two-door driven by 27-year old Anna Urban of Clatskanie, was westbound on Highway 30 near milepost 52. For an unknown reason, it crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with a 1990 Mitsubishi Montero sport utility vehicle, Lucas said.

"The Mitsubishi came to a stop off the highway overturned onto its side. The Pontiac came to a stop on the highway."

Lucas says Ms. Urban was pronounced deceased at the scene. She was reportedly not using safety restraints.

The Mitsubishi's driver, 33-year old James Aydelotte of Eagle, Idaho, was using safety restraints and received non-life threatening injuries.

Aydelotte was transported by Clatskanie Fire Department to St. Johns Medical Center in Kelso, Washington.

OSP troopers from the St. Helens and Astoria offices are continuing the investigation.

Highway 30 was closed about 3 1/2 hours as traffic was re-routed onto area roadways.

The Rainier Police Department, Columbia County Sheriff's Office, Clatskanie Fire Department and Oregon Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
