Marijuana Eruption in Colorado and a Million Dollar Sale

Possible five hundred thousand pot heads.

Retail Medical Marijuana
en.wikipedia.org

(PORTLAND, OR) - I hope all users get the joke. There has been too much pejorative comments about patients who use the safest, most effective medicine for their myriad of diseases.

It appears that the overseers of the medical marijuana program were surprised that the large number of first day buyers, which numbered around ten thousand people, who purchased about $1,000,000 worth of medicine.

At the same time, the committee made the same foolish mistakes as all of the other state committees. Marijuana IS medicine and should be considered such, like aspirin, which incidentally kills about one thousand people per year. Marijuana kills nobody!

The commission's regulations are laughable. The new law is supposed to do the following (Dr. Leveque's responses in non-bold):

  • Prevent use by minors.
High school and college students have their own system from seed to weed user.
  • Prevent diversion of money to criminals.
The Mexican mafia still controls the supply and the price.
  • Prevent pot from going out of state.
One third of the patients are out of state. They will still cross the borders to go home.
  • Prevent legal activities from screening illegal activities.
This program is so vast that no amount of policing will prevent some illegal activity.
  • Prevent drugged driving.
Drugged driving is a myth. Marijuana lasts in the body 4-6 weeks. After 12 hours it doesn't affect driving at all.
  • No smoking in public.
No smoking in public is a cruel joke. People will smoke everywhere.
  • Different prices for medical and recreational users.
Different prices for medical and recreational use is ridiculous. Most people will get a low priced medical permit.

HOORAH FOR MARIJUANA IN COLORADO!

There will be unintended consequences in the very near future, and it will eventually change the dynamic of cannabis legislation.  Those who opposed this legalization will someday realize how wrong they were.  Great piece Dr. Leveque.
