It also has fed into other histoical flows that have and are causing us harm, but thanks for your input. Though I agree with you on Israels attack on the USS liberty ,as did Tim King I read his article, I think you misunderstand something. "How does Israel pay us back?" How about being one of the biggest Islamic terrorist magnet in the world.I think that ability should not be underestimated.The reason we give all that money is from a military stand point it is brilliant.For each terrorist that attacks the Jewish state means one less terrorist for us to deal with. That is what the Green Brays were created for. I think their called force multipliers. So I disagree that they are using us I think we are using them. As for paying them back remember when Jimmy Carter made Israel give back all that hard fought land as part of the weapons deal. I think America has been paying them back for their treacherous actions against us. As for being questionable allies it comes with the territory. George Washington warned us about uncertainty of allies in his Farewell Address (1796).

Regarding the statement by feldman (an anti-Gentile?), that "most" of the victims of the war crime against the USS Liberty by feldman's people(?) are now dead is fortunately wrong. Does feldman simply want all these hero's dead? As it is people, these men have children, grandchildren and more and more people are getting on board to inform people about these anti-Gentile racist's. This upcoming Spring term at two Oregon state colleges two professors are providing significant class time on this war crime. They (student's) may also get extra credit by doing a paper that theorizes why Hollywood has not made a movie about this crime. Can you the reader come up with your own theory? Maybe feldman (an anti-Gentile?) can answer that...yeah, don't hold your breath America! Since 1948 we have given Israel over one trillion dollars in financial aid and military equipment (when you compute simple interest of it's value over time)...this money could have gone to our veterans. How does Israel pay us back? With murder, spying (recall the Rosenbergs, Pollard, etc.) and other foul acts. Then we have people of feldman's ilk who say that anyone who informs people of these eregious acts are anti-Semites? What is their true agenda?!

Tim I did not read your story, but I knew of the attack as it was happening, located thousands of miles away (atmospheric radio wave skip phenom). I also sat in on an interview with several survivors and heard their story's which were still fresh in their memories. They of course were not aware of the bigger picture, i.e. , the reason for this criminal attack (they are now!) Note: The captain of the Liberty received the Congressional Medal of Honor people--good movie material?. I also was involved in exposing several Americans from Oregon who were involved in this attack while serving with the Israeli's...they moved before they could be properly investigated (four attended high school in Portland and received bogus medical deferrments from the same MD who moved to Isreal) Note: One can only wonder how many other Americans, with possible joint citizenship and security clearances were involved?! I would suggest that the uss.liberty.com website does provide an excellent account of events. What one of my beef's has been, is how even college instructor's going back to 1968 (my personal observation) were being called anti-Semite for teaching aout this war crime, even threatened to have their funding cut (one was tenured). There has been a consistent pattern of denial and threats to this day when people within the educational community bring up this subject. I will also point out there have been some successful lawsuits (slander) promulgated by accusations of being anti-Semite. I had earlier posted that Hollywood not making a film about this war crime says a great deal about this community. Calling someone anti-Semite, or any other name when they bring up facts, historical or otherwise, simply exposes these name-callers for what they are...

To all: Tim King wrote the Liberty story, in his usual inimitable, honest, revealing style --and with striking photos to illustrate, too. That was one which encouraged me to write as was possible for S-N --and I have never regretted that decision. It details with depth and decency, and leaves one, after "seeing with own eyes", to use "own brain", and make own evaluations of the complex forces at work when nations quarrel.

With regard to the U.S.S. Liberty, I wrote an article September 13th 2006, The Day Israel Attacked the United States that goes over many points surrounding the events of that day. For those just joining in, the U.S.S. Liberty was an American Naval vessel that was repeatedly attacked by Israel during the Six Day War in 1967. I wasn't there, I'm not old enough to have been, but I have spent a decent amount of time with this story and I've been in contact with many of the sailors who were aboard the Liberty that day.

Israel's actions were highly suspect in my opinion, and it isn't racist or anti-semitic to say so. If American sailors say the U.S. flag was flying high, which they do, then I believe them and the buck stops. I do not believe the Israeli pilots' word over that of my own countrymen. Notice if you visit this story, how it was instantly attacked by pro-Israeli interests. Notice also that there are comments from the sailors who were actually aboard. If nothing else in my opinion, people need to know about the encounter and they can draw their own conclusions.

Also still await his Op ED or series of them, with "see with own eyes" links for all to use and then evaluate "with own brain" rather than swallow his behind-tree sniping and demand for credibility made impossible by that continued denial of responsibility and accountability.

O'reilly is popular because he plays into the narrative that the media is bias and you need to get your information from a tell like it is guy. A lot of conservatives believe this is true and buy into it. That is why they get their actual news from talk radio and conservative pundits. Authoritarian personalities albiet even mild ones tend to look for the big personality figure that is "looking out for you" It's a daddy complex, someone to idolize. O'reilly's audience is not savy enough to look for propaganda. He is in fact what they've always been looking for, someone to tell them how it is. So they don't question it, they question the straight up news man you as they see it, doesn't tell them how it is.

People I guess Henry/TFI did not like the update I made to set the record straight regarding his earlier posts about the Wall Street Journal and Steiger, an individual that may be a legend to some, but not to conservative journalists who prefer fact over his peculiar "style"...like TFI...who sure likes to tell us how ignorant we are and how bright he is. There is a name for this behavior on his part...maybe he can tell you, as if you already don't know. Columbia at one time was probably one of the best universities on the planet, but that was a long long time ago. Though there is a young lady journalist on FOX News who has her own show that recently finished her graduate degree at Columbia, so maybe there is hope.

With three sons active in profession, can promise you have insight never otherwise available. How many kids you got at work in journalism, N-N ? What role have you ever played in practical news work anywheres ? Henry/TFI exposed, once again. Regarding Paul Steiger who Henry/TFI has been trumpeting. He is no conservative and just read about his new so-called investigative website and who is funding it!: "A new and supposedly nonpartisan news agency named ProPublica is about to start offering free of charge its "investigative journalism" created with "moral force" to newspapers and other news sources soon and so far the announcement has been met with favorable coverage by the MSM. But, ProPublica is being funded by a pair of left-wing billionaires responsible for funding such groups as the Center for American Progress and MoveOn.org and other far left Democrat backing organizations, yet the MSM seems unconcerned that highly partisan, left-wing backers are funding this effort. Somehow, the MSM can't imagine that any leftist bias could possibly infect this new "news" agency. Now, imagine how the MSM would be clicking tongues if a news agency were to be founded by a well-known conservative. Imagine how the MSM would be throwing around the word "bias" with abandon and how they would assume right off the bat that such a new news agency couldn't possibly be a real news source because the founder of it was a conservative. Would the opposite situation elicit such clucking? Would the MSM scoff at the claim of non-partisan reporting if a left-wing activist started a news agency?" NOTE: The TFI claims the Wall Street Journal was a conservative newspaper people: Myth! The editorial section was, but the news section ran by Steiger was not, and he even addmitted it via his actions. Please TFI, let's be open and above board. Thanks buddy.

Most pressures causing due to corporate and rapacious owners protecting stock short-term prices, at cost of human-attack on staff numbers, pay, and benefits. Neocon national policis forcing large lossses in what we enjoyed for years from the media. Henry/TFI's reaction is why I am so glad for the internet and Fox news channel, even Lou Dobbs. Now we truely do have a "see with your own eyes" situation developing and getting stronger. People the press is losing subscribers and the broadcater's are losing audiences, but the conservative news sources are growing, ergo, Americans are becoming informed, albeit slowly, but at least we have a truth tonic available to provide some immunity from the diversions and the half-truths we have been getting. NOW it is the "mainstream media" here made the scapegoat by N-N. But the real reason for most of what has happened to all-such is, very simply, the reign of owner-enforced policy and operations severely now limiting much, if not most, of what independent editors and reporters used to do, driven by journalistic tradition. The near-death of true and strong investigative reporting is one of the major goals of all neocon informational philosophy, demanded since reality is death to them whenever the public is awake enough to comprehend by learning "with own eyes and mind." That's planned consequence from 30 years of GOP/neocon "noise machine" machinations and malicious distortion and perversion of realities, from which far too many citizens are now brain-washed by repetition and suppressed reforming response to react as free, responsible and accountable themselves. A long list of books, reports, studies and similar authoritative statements is on record, many by those actually involved themselves in that "noise machine", and now repenting and seeking remedial action by self-report to the public. (List on request to Editor with ID.) Recent postings right here in this channel confirm the kind of retaliation which has now become a main weapon of neocon drive to monopolize and somehow further manipulate open, honest and democratic channels wherever they may appear, by paid shill if needed. Major writers in journalism for 50 years have been warning against precisely this very damaging development which currently presents great danger to our democracy.

Tim I agree with much of what you say, but O'Reilly is not the only one who obscures facts for whatever reason? Certainly Dan Rather is a good example in terms of a big fish from a large network being exposed and released, but he is back once again, though his audience is smaller. Chris Mathews, Olberman, MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC,CNN, New York Times, Washington Post and on and on, certainly have significant accuracy problems, so to speak. People simply need to be skeptical. Frankly I find the so-called mainstream news media as being far more dangerous than some cable hack who in overall population outreach is much smaller than the MSM by a big margin.

Maybe by 'piercings' he means ears? And I'm not entirely sure but is it even legal in any state even with parental consebt for 12 yr olds to get tattoos? Maybe he means those 'temporary tattoos'? But true this guy tends to stretch the truth past the breaking point... usually starting with his laughable 'no spin zone' BS. He spins like a top and there is no doubt of it. And then there are his little ambush interviews and his targeted pogroms against individual judges, professors or other public figures. He seems far more like Goebbels than anything else recently seen. Ah well...
