OSP Troopers Arrest 41 DUII Drivers During New Year's Eve

Troopers arrested seven more people this year than the prior year...

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers reported more DUII arrests around the state in comparison to last year during New Year's Eve night. Increased enforcement efforts by OSP troopers, county deputies and city police officers will continue through Sunday night during the national "Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest." crackdown. Preliminary information indicates between December 31st and 6:00 a.m., January 1, 2011, OSP troopers reported 41 DUII arrests around the state of which eighteen were after midnight. Last year, troopers reported 34 DUII arrests during the New Year's Eve night and did not respond to any fatal traffic crashes overnight. OSP offices reporting three or more DUII arrests during that period were: Springfield Area Command – 10 DUII arrests (6 after midnight)

Coos Bay Area Command - 5 DUII arrests

Portland Area Command – 5 DUII arrests (3 after midnight)

Astoria Area Command – 3 DUII arrests

The Dalles Area Command – 3 DUII arrests (2 after midnight) Since the New Year's Holiday enforcement period started 6:00 p.m., Thursday, December 30, OSP troopers have arrested 44 DUII arrests. During last year's 102-hour reporting period, troopers arrested a total of 70 DUII drivers.
