Safe Drinking Water Loan Fund Tops $100 Million Benchmark as Woodburn Completes Water Facility

(Woodburn) - The City of Woodburn has completed a $4 million project to bring its water treatment plants into compliance with federal drinking water standards. It was funded through the Safe Drinking Water Revolving Loan Fund, which has lent more than $100 million to 68 Oregon water systems, leveraging federal dollars for health and economic benefit. The official celebration of the new facility Wednesday happens March 1st, at 10:00 AM at the City of Woodburn Water Treatment Plant No. 3, 1084 Country Club Road. State and local officials including State Public Health Director Susan Allan, M.D., City of Woodburn Mayor, Kathy Figley, State Senator Peter Courtney and State Representative Betty Komp.

Following brief remarks by officials, there will be a tour of the water plant. The City of Woodburn water system improvement project includes construction of three water treatment plants, three new municipal water supply wells and water transmission lines.
