(MELBOURNE) - A careful study of the first 3 links below reveals the International Community (IC) may not go for independent international investigation. It may not be fully international, as Tamil Net has pointed out that there may be some loopholes in the resolution. This could be far fetched thinking, but a bit of caution is necessary. US has not promised the Tamils anything, but Britain has. The British Tamils must be alert and keep in touch with the British Parliamentarians on independent international investigations in Sri Lanka.. Please read the Tamil Net link below. Tamils cautioned against word trick of OHCHR In the link below the UNHRC Chief Navi Pillay is firm on International Independent Investigation, but the Human Rights bodies are expressing cautious optimism. "The Sri Lankan government has refused to address its role in the deaths of tens of thousands at the end of the country’s brutal civil war. The high commissioner’s report sends a strong message that only an independent international inquiry can bring justice to the victims of Sri Lanka’s wartime abuses," Brad Adams, Asia director, Human Rights Watch. Please click the Tamil Canadian link below and read what Navi Pillay has to say. In the link below, again from Tamil Canadian, America is expressing its frustration at Sri Lanka's inaction and as a result tension is rising between them. If you read in between the lines in many of the US reports, the word reconciliation figures very often. Some reports don't fail to emphasise the importance of SL to US to protect the sea lanes in the Indian Ocean. Human rights violations are only secondary to geopolitical needs of most of the Western countries. The US would prefer a change of government in Sri Lanka, but that is not possible when Rajapaksa's popularity is on the rise. Please click and read the link below. Tensions Rise Between the United States and Sri Lanka Over Human RightsThis link from Tamil Canadian below is on the mass graves where 80 skeleton had been found so far. The government is trying to blame it on the Tamil Tigers, but there is ample evidence that the killing took place after the government captured Mannar. The Tamills must be alert that any delay in bringing the culprits of Mullivaaykkal genocide to books, may lead to more deaths and disappearances among the Tamils. Cultural genocide and colonisation may eradicate the Tamil Homeland. The British Tamils must keep a tap on the British Parliamentarians to see that the March 2014 resolution leads to international independent investigation.
