(HILLSBORO, Ore.) - Police and fire units in Hillsboro responded to a car versus pedestrian crash in the 20600 block of Quatama Road in Hillsboro this morning at 7:20 a.m.

Lt. Michael Rouches with Hillsboro Police says the collision occurred when a 2003 Honda Pilot SUV was traveling eastbound on Quatama Rd. approaching Sunbird Terrace.

"A 46 year old male pedestrian was crossing Quatama Road mid block from south to north. The vehicle was traveling at approx 35 mph and the driver, a 50 year old male, didn't see the pedestrian in the roadway," Rouches said.

The pedestrian, 46-year old Danny O. Hogan of Hillsboro, was struck by the front of the SUV and fell to the ground. Upon arriving on scene Hillsboro Fire and Rescue pronounced Mr. Hogan dead from the injuries sustained in this collision.

Rouches added, "Witnesses report no erratic, unsafe speed or reckless driving on the part of the SUV driver and initial reports indicate that no drugs or alcohol were involved. Fog was dense in the area and did limit visibility."

Rouches says the Washington County CART Team responded and are conducting the investigation into this incident.

No citations issued at this time. Quatama Road. was closed to traffic for approx 5 hrs as a result of this incident.
