(Sublimity) - Stayton Police say an elderly husband and wife were found dead Monday morning after an apparent murder-suicide at Marian Estates Assisted Living Facility where they resided.

Police say employees found the couple around 6:30 AM in the Elliott, the assisted living portion of Marian Estates.

Investigators say 81-year-old Howard Naue, and his wife, 83-year-old Florence Naue, both died of gunshot wounds.

It has been determined by officers investigating the circumstances, that Naue first shot his wife, then shot himself. They did not disclose the type of weapon that was used.

No suicide note or written explanation was found.

Marian Estates officials say they are working with an outside counseling agency to help minimize trauma to all of the residents and employees.
