(NEW YORK) - Since the 1970s, hundreds of tombs and thousands of ossuaries (limestone bone boxes) have been discovered in the Jerusalem area. These ossuaries served as coffins in first-century Jerusalem. One of these tombs was found to contain ten ossuaries. Six of the ossuaries in this tomb have inscriptions on them. As it turns out, every inscription in this particular tomb relates to the Gospels. In the feature documentary The Lost Tomb of Jesus a case is made that the 2,000-year-old "Tomb of the Ten Ossuaries" belonged to the family of Jesus of Nazareth. All leading epigraphers agree about the inscriptions. All archaeologists confirm the nature of the find. It comes down to a matter of statistics. A statistical study commissioned by the broadcasters (Discovery Channel/Vision Canada/C4 UK) concludes that the probability factor is 600 to 1 in favor of this tomb being the tomb of Jesus of Nazareth and his family. The film also documents DNA extraction from human residue found in two of the ossuaries and reveals new evidence that throws light on Jesus' relationship with Mary Magdalene. The documentary includes dramatic recreations, based on the latest historical evidence, illustrating accurate images of Jesus of Nazareth, his family, his followers, his ministry, his crucifixion and his entombment. Part archaeological adventure, part Biblical history, part forensic science, part theological controversy: this is a story that will be carried around the world. The executive producer of The Lost Tomb of Jesus is Academy award winning filmmaker, James Cameron. The producers are award winning filmmakers Felix Golubev and Ric Esther Bienstock. The director is Emmy award winning documentarian, Simcha Jacobovici. The film airs Sunday at 9:00 PM ET/PT on the Discovery Channel. "another roadside attraction", maybe they'll have a moving tomb later in your own home town! I can not believe this. You Know how many times this tomb has been "discovered"?, I mean they'll baptize you in the Jordan and swear it's the exact spot John the Baptist did it to Jesus when it's really a deal between the Israelies and Jordanians and varies location wise depending on politcal expediency, but the "pastors" Fink, Swindoll.,Robert's, rev. J Jackson too and of course Teddy Haggard and Billy Swaggart, Et Al don't say a thing. Just buy a ticket and watch the show.,watch the pigs get fat! unbelievable!

Worry about your own estate planning and funeral arrangements. This stuff surfaces from time to time and is not worth the dirt it talks about.
Discovery?; February 27, 2007 3:44 am (Pacific time)
have you seen their "limited first time"., "one to a customer only" and "limited stocks available" adverts for anything from ancient egyptian onyx and bronze for $9.99 guaranteed!, to the "recently discovered" gold "cache" or silver or buffaloe nickles by the pound they just have to let the public in on! Great stuff and no science required, better you know nothing to invest in some of their "archeaologic finds of the century"!. Their "vital signs" section is good, and the rest is an advertisement. And Jesus is supposed to be out of the tomb anyway.,didn't they read about that in the Bible?,where they rolled the stone away?, in the gospel section? What kind of scientists are they anyway? It's a done deal!

This same find was debunked soon after it was found 27 years ago- by scientists and archeologists who have no religious stake in the matter. These were very common names at the time and other Jesus ossuaries have been found. Only the very gullible, the very ignorant, and the very bigoted will buy into this- which is exactly what the moneygrubbers are counting on. The Discovery Channel should change its name to The Desperation Channel.
