(SALEM) - A 35-year old Salem man was arrested early Thursday morning on multiple charges after reportedly attempting to elude Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers in SE Salem.

A press release states:

On February 20, 2014 at approximately 1:21 a.m., an OSP trooper spotted a Chrysler 300 passenger car traveling at 106 mph southbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 254. The trooper moved in position behind the vehicle with emergency lights activated to initiate a traffic stop. The driver slowed and continued southbound, exiting at Kuebler Boulevard and then heading westbound where it sped up as the trooper confirmed the driver was attempting to elude westbound.

About a mile west of Interstate 5 at the Kuebler Boulevard and Commercial Street intersection, the vehicle stopped in the left lane. Another trooper moved into position along the vehicle's driver side and exited the patrol car. As the trooper gave verbal commands to exit the car, the driver rolled the window down and yelled an expletive comment as he refused to comply.

The trooper then deployed a Taser and the driver, Anthony R. Segura, age 35, from Salem, was taken into custody without further incident. Troopers found a loaded semi-automatic handgun concealed in the center console between the two front seats. A small amount of Hydrocodone and Oxycodone pills were also found in his clothing.

Segura was lodged in the Marion County Jail on the following charges:

* Felony Attempt to Elude in a Vehicle

* Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants

* Reckless Driving

* Unlawful Possession of a Firearm

* Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance
