(UPDATE) Happy Valley Man Cleared in Woman's Death

Detectives mistakenly arrested David Updike for Deborah Wallace's death.

(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - (Editor's note: This story changed substantially today when a man arrested for the death of his longtime domestic partner was arrested for her Murder was released, after her autopsy was completed.)

Yesterday, we reported that a Happy Valley man was arrested after a death investigation involving a woman he had lived with for some time. We also reported via information from the Clackamas Sheriff's Office, that the man has an extensive criminal history.

Lieutenant Jeff Davis with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, says Saturday morning around 11:47 a.m. Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to 8525 SE Orchard Lane, Space #27 in Happy Valley.

Deputies arriving on the scene from Clackamas County, reportedly discovered the body of 44-year old Deborah Sue Wallace.

Davis says Clackamas County detectives from the Homicide and Violent Crimes Unit were called out to take over the ongoing investigation.

Detectives arrested 42-year old David Ross Updike for the death of Deborah Sue Wallace, charging him with Murder.

Deborah Wallace and David Updike resided together at the home on SE Orchard Lane and had a domestic relationship, according to Davis.

Today, the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office released new information regarding the death investigation of Deborah Sue Wallace.

"An autopsy of Deborah Sue Wallace was conducted by the office of the State Medical Examiner on February 21st, 2010 and the results of that autopsy are pending. Additionally, investigators executed a search warrant at the residence on February 21st, 2010. Upon further investigation, findings indicate that Wallace's death was not the result of homicidal violence. David Ross Updike has been released from the Clackamas County Jail."

Officials say the death of Deborah Sue Wallace remains under investigation with the cooperation of the Oregon State Police Forensic Laboratory and the office of the State Medical Examiner.
