New Seawall at D-River Wayside State Park to be Completed Friday

Salem-News.com

(Lincoln City) - State Parks officials say a temporary seawall at the D-River Wayside State Park in Lincoln City should be completed by Friday.

The new seawall is in the exact location of the old wall with no loss of beach.

A 100-foot portion of the seawall collapsed due to high waves on February 4. Waves in the area were reported to be up to 40-feet at the time the wall collapsed.

Officials said they needed the temporary seawall in place because the continuing pounding of the waves could cause more damage, eroding up to the parking lot.

Engineers from the state parks department will decide if a more permanent wall or other protections are needed.

A similar wall was put up 11 years ago during a similar collapse on the D River and that wall is still up.
