Critical Injury Traffic Crash - Highway 20 near Toledo (PHOTO SERIES)

(TOLEDO, Ore.) - A Lincoln City-area woman was critically injured and three others received minor injuries Tuesday morning when her vehicle collided with a commercial truck on Highway 20 near Toledo.

According to Oregon State Police (OSP) Sergeant Justin McGladrey, Tuesday at approximately 5:32 a.m. a 2005 Jeep Cherokee driven by 62-year old Michael F. Meyer of Lincoln City, was eastbound on Highway 20 near milepost 9 when it lost control on the icy highway.

The Jeep traveled into the westbound lane where it collided nearly head-on with a 2004 International truck pulling a semi-trailer loaded with grocery products.

McGladrey says after impact, the Jeep continued across the eastbound lane and collided with the guardrail before coming to a stop in the center of the highway. The commercial truck came to a stop off the highway. Meyer received minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Samaritan Pacific Community Hospital.

His wife/passenger, 59-year old Christine Meyer, was critically injured and transported first to Samaritan Pacific Community Hospital then taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis.

The truck's driver, 34-year old Gary G. Lamont of Tacoma, Washington, and passenger 36-year old John R. Cole of Lakewood, Washington, were both transported to Samaritan Pacific Community Hospital with minor injuries.

All persons were using safety restraints. OSP troopers from the Newport Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Members of the Lincoln County Interagency Crash Team are assisting.

Responding team members represented Newport Police Department, Lincoln City Police Department, Toledo Police Department, and Lincoln County Sheriff's Office. ODOT and Pac West Ambulance assisted at the scene.
