(SALEM, Ore.) - Historic downtown Salem, Oregon is open for business, but a few major thoroughfares are being detoured due to a suspicious package.

There are no details on the package itself, or how it was discovered. This information will follow, once the police investigation has been resolved.

Center Street NE is currently closed at Church St NE, and Church Street is closed at Chemeketa St NE, near the area temporarily used for the Cherriots bus system.

The Macy's parking structure is also closed at Church and Center St.

This is the second suspicious package found in downtown Salem in two weeks. The last one proved to be non-problematic.

Update Salem Police Dept.: Salem Police Bomb Squad has disrupted the suspicious package and determined it is not an explosive device. The package was thrown at a window at the Department of Energy building by a subject acting in a suspicious manner, then he fled on foot. As a result, appropriate precautions were taken to ensure the safety of the public.

All streets are now open for normal traffic.
