Local YouTube Video Parody of Goth Band Nearing 300,000 Views (VIDEO)

This YouTube video brings together the most unusual and unexpected sights and sounds in the music world.

(SALEM, Ore.) - 7 months ago, a video I put together entitled "Cradle of Filth- My Humps" was added to YouTube.com. The video was no longer than 2 minutes and took less than 45 minutes to make.

Today, it stands at more than 285,000 views, and has an unusually high view to comment ratio with over 1,700 text comments from other YouTube users. This is just one example of how anyone can become popular among the YouTube community.

This particular video has been added to a number of other websites. It is downloadable on the internet, it is mentioned under Parodies on the Wikipedia page for the Black Eyes Peas song My Humps, and it even spawned the fan art section of the Cradle of Filth myspace page.

Other YouTube users, such as Smosh, Derrickcomedy and many others have achieved nationwide recognition for their videos on YouTube, many of which have more than 1 million views.

The video that was stated earlier (Cradle of Filth- My Humps), is one of the many so-called "Sync Vids" on YouTube where a song is placed over a mismatched music video in attempt to have the words and mouths sync.

Many videos have been made in this format but not many have succeeded in becoming such a figure in popular culture. Another popular YouTube video, simply entitled "Cannibal Corpse" is the same idea in reverse, and has also become very popular since it was first added to YouTube where it is viewable today.

Sites like YouTube are a large part of today's communication. There are countless videos on the websites and nearly every one of them is free to watch. Many times there have been short film competitions hosted entirely by YouTube. Many other websites have tried to imitate the video hosting idea, such as myspace and AOL, but YouTube remains at the top. The "Cradle of Humps" video (as it is called for short) receives both positive and negative feedback nearly every day, and the popularity still rises.

I sometimes forget the popularity of the My Humps video, as it's been brought up in conversations many times with people who didn't know I had anything to do with it.
