Fatal Traffic Crash - Highway 205 South of Burns

(BURNS, Ore.) - Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers from the Burns worksite are continuing the investigation into an early Saturday morning single vehicle fatal traffic crash on Highway 205 south of Burns. The crash resulted in the death of a Diamond, Oregon woman.

According to OSP Sergeant Brian Williams, on January 29, 2011 at approximately 7:30 a.m. a motorist discovered a single vehicle rollover crash along the side of Highway 205 near milepost 25 and called 9-1-1.

OSP troopers from the Burns worksite and Harney EMS personnel responded, and upon arrival they found the female operator deceased outside the vehicle.

Preliminary investigation indicates a GMC Envoy sport utility vehicle driven by 56-year Kathleen Largent of Diamond, was northbound on Highway 205 when it appears she lost control on the icy roadway and rolled several times off the shoulder.

Investigating troopers also reported freezing fog in the area at the time of their response.

ODOT and Harney EMS assisted at the scene.
