OH-58 Helicopter like those used by Oregon`s Air Guard

(Salem) - The Oregon Army National Guard launched an OH-58 Kiowa helicopter shortly after 9:00 AM Chirstmas morning from the Army Aviation Support Facility in Salem to assist in the search for a woman missing since approximately 4:00 AM December 24th.

The Douglas County Sheriff's office is leading the search.

Typically used in counterdrug operations in Oregon and as a command and control or observation airframe in combat operations, the OH-58 Kiowa is configured with state of the art equipment that give searchers unique capabilities.

The Oregon Army National Guard has assisted with dozens of search and rescue operations throughout 2005.
