(SALEM) - Salem fire crews are on the scene of an apartment fire in NE Salem that involves multiple victims, at least one of whom is described as physically small, and likely a child. The blaze broke out sometime after midnight and swept through an apartment complex in the 3400 block of Hadley Street NE, north of Silverton Road NE. It is unknown how the fire started or exactly how many victims may be involved. Salem-News.com's Jerry Freeman is on the scene and he reports that three victims were transported from the scene of the fire. Two were observed being treated in the front yard area; they were described as "limp" though no other information is available at this point. A witness from an adjacent home told Salem-News that she heard screaming, and came out to find the first person being removed. At this point we have not had contact with officials, which we expect shortly. Footage from the scene recorded by Salem-News.com's Jerry Freeman, story continues below: Volunteers with the American Red Cross are on the scene of a four-unit fire in the 3000 block of Hadley Street in NE Salem. Three families are currently being provided with shelter, food, winter-weather clothing, and emotional support. The fourth family will be served following medical care. The Red Cross is a charitable organization - not a government agency - and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission. Financial donations can be made online at www.redcross.org, by phone at 503-585-5414. In Oregon, the American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disaster every 15 hours; supplies more than 90 percent of Oregon's blood; teaches thousands of Oregonians lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families.
