Marijuana for Epilepsy: Best Therapy

Recent television stories confirm this.

Epilepsy

(PORTLAND, OR) - Epilepsy, in its worst form; Dravet Syndrome, is certainly the worst disease a child and its parents can have with hundreds of severe grand mal seizures a day which occur frequently and without warning. Simple epilepsy is bad enough, afflicting about one or two percent of the population. Dravet Syndrome is totally worse and has been considered untreatable until now with the discovery of the phenomenal effectiveness of marijuana and especially one of the chemical components of marijuana called Cannabidol (C B D) It stops seizures in a matter of seconds and reduces Dravet seizures to almost zero.

Epilepsy has a long and terrifying history in human medicine dating back to Socrates and Plato.

I wrote my first article on this subject on June 25 2009, in Salem-News.com titled: Marijuana: Good for Seizures, had a few reader few comments. I could not understand that, but my medical marijuana articles online have been few. My next article, March 11 2013, titled: Epilepsy and Seizure Therapy: Marijuana Vs 22 Dangerous Drugs had more reader feedback.

I get my information from the Epilepsy Society which now lists 25 drugs. The big catch is that for a given patient, maybe only two or three might work. Really worse is that all of these drugs are toxic to the brain and frequently and mostly cause a severe brain dulling full-time. Marijuana does not do that.

Recently several articles have appeared on television and in newspapers about this "new" discovery about both marijuana itself and C B D being extremely effective for seizures, and that many parents with children who have seizures are moving to Colorado where marijuana use for even children is legal.

Epilepsy is one of the conditions for which a person or a parent/guardian can get a medical marijuana permit. In Oregon, for example, there are an estimated 3,000 epilepsy patients and 1,600 of them use marijuana in preference to the 25 toxic brain pharmaceuticals mentioned above.

COLORADO IS LEADING THE WAY --- CANNABIS WORKS WELL FOR SEIZURES
