(GERVAIS, Ore.) - The resident of a home near Gervais received minor injuries this morning when a dump truck crashed through the walls of her living space. Police investigating the case say the driver may have had a medical problem while driving. The empty ten yard dump truck driven by 42-year old Scott J. Vanholland was westbound on Highway 219 near French Prairie Road at 10:30 AM when it failed to negotiate a curve, Oregon State Police Senior Trooper Mark Davie said. "After leaving the roadway, the dump truck traveled over 300 feet through a grass field and crashed into a manufactured home at 5960 Highway 219 in Gervais. The dump truck crashed into the home near the bedroom area occupied by two persons." One of the occupants, 22-year old Maria Pena, was injured and transported to Silverton Hospital as a precaution. The other person, 21-year old Delia Mendoza-Paoli, was not injured. Story continues below Oregon State Police troopers from the Salem Area Command office are continuing the investigation, Davie said. No citations have been issued and the case is still under investigation, as troopers investigate whether a medical problem may have caused the driver to lose control of the truck.
