Woodburn Police Officer Struck by Car While Directing Traffic (UPDATE)

The Woodburn police officer received non-life threatening injuries and is being transported to Silverton Hospital for treatment. This update clarifies the names of the individuals involved.

(WOODBURN, Ore.) - Oregon State Police are conducting an investigation into a Woodburn police officer being struck by a vehicle on the Highway 214 overpass at Interstate 5. OSP reports that they are doing this at the request of the Woodburn Police Department.

Preliminary information indicates that Saturday around 3:26 PM, Woodburn Police Officer 28-year old Peter Antoine, was outside of his patrol vehicle directing traffic at the scene of a previous traffic crash just west of Interstate 5 on Highway 214.

Antoine was struck by a pickup driven by 43-year old Kurtiss Steven Teegarden, who was attempting to turn from westbound Highway 214 onto the southbound Interstate 5 on ramp.

The Woodburn police officer, a four a half year veteran with their department, received non-life threatening injuries and is being transported to Silverton Hospital for treatment.

Travel was delayed on Highway 214 in this area but the highway is not blocked at this time.
