Dec-03-2006 01:06TweetFollow @OregonNews Week-long Search for Kim Family Continues in OregonSalem-News.comTips continue to be called into the phone line of 800-452-7888, but none have led to locating the family or vehicle.
(GRANTS PASS) - FOUND! Mom and Kids OK: Father Still Missing The search for the James Kim family, missing since Saturday, November 25th is continuing. State, county and city police agencies are working together in an attempt to develop leads and conduct area searches. Family members 35-year old James Kim, 30-year old Kati Kim, 4-year old Penelope and 7-month old Sabine, failed to return to San Francisco from a trip to the Pacific Northwest. They were in the Portland area on Saturday, with friends, and left enroute to Gold Beach to stay at the Tu Tu Tun Lodge. The family never arrived, has failed to return home in San Francisco, and no one has heard from them in a week. They were traveling in a silver 2005 Saab 92X station wagon displaying California personalized plates "DOESF". Following search efforts Friday and early Saturday, Curry County Sheriff's Office Lieutenant Dennis Dinsmore confirmed that the length of Bear Camp Road was checked by Search & Rescue personnel and deputies using 4 x 4 vehicles and a Sno-Cat without finding any sign of the vehicle. Support air search efforts also have not located any sign of the vehicle in their county. Their efforts, supported by similar search efforts involving Josephine County Sheriff's Office, found no sign of the vehicle between Grants Pass and Gold Beach. Personnel from Josephine County Sheriff's Office, Search & Rescue, and BLM (Bureau of Land Management) will continue to check side roads off Bear Camp Road by Sno-Cat. Oregon State Police troopers continued during the evening to keep on the lookout while patrolling area highways. Tips continue to be called into the established phone line of 800-452-7888, but none have led to locating the family or vehicle. Approximately 30 calls have been received on the tip line during the last two days. I'm glad that finally there's finally an article that correctly reported the family's car - a 2005 Saab 92X wagon. All the other news sources reported the car to be a 2005 Saab 900. The problem is the Saab 900 was discontinued in 1998. The only Saab wagons for 2005 were the 92X and 93. It was quite entertaining to observe the careless parroting of incorrect facts by so many other news sources.

I hope everything turns out well... I would have thought that they would have contacted some one by now. Perhaps they don't want to be found at the moment - God knows what's really going on. In prayer as well...

Miracles DO happen, let's hope the Kim family will return home safe and sound...

I'm from Siskiyou county and Bill nailed it on the head, the cops stick to the I5 corridor for revenue enhancement. Don't think I've ever seen a state cop on a back road, it's just the county sheriffs, bless them. Pretty rough country in there with bad, wet snow, poor markings, and big dropoffs.
Rita December 4, 2006 6:01 am (Pacific time)
My thoughts and prayers are with them.

Can someone say why nobody has pulled a helicopter from SF to fly the route? Sounds like a good idea to me.

Prayer. Say one for the Kim family, because it seems a prayer is all they've got right now. There is still hope.
Bruce December 3, 2006 1:57 pm (Pacific time)
Praying for them to be found ok.

I used to watch James Kim on a show called the screensavers. So far things don't look promising. I hope James Kim and his wife and kids are safe. Please.
Chris December 3, 2006 10:02 am (Pacific time)

I'm up in Oregon all the time, I drive the 5 to Seattle a lot so I'm always through Grant's Pass, Roseburg, Salem, and Portland. The strange thing is I always see State Troopers, they are thick through the 5 corridor looking to ticket out of state travelers, so I would think the troopers would have seen something. Then again, I don't know anything about the coast, so if they disappeared there all bets are off I guess.

friend of the family December 3, 2006 7:02 am (Pacific time)
Like all of the Kims' family and friends, we're praying. They're very dear people, and all we can do is hope for the best. Many thanks to all who are looking for them. Bless you!
