(KEIZER, Ore. ) - Keizer Police say an officer located a woman early this morning in the 800 block of Lockhaven Drive, who was partly naked and suffering from facial injuries. It was later determined that a man had kidnapped and assaulted her, as well as attempting to sexually assault her. Police say the victim and suspect were walking down Lockhaven Drive near the 800 block when the incident occurred. It is reported that the victim refused to have sexual intercourse, the suspect forced her into a nearby field to try and sexually assault her. "The victim fought back, yelling, screaming and that is when the suspect struck her in the face numerous times to keep her from screaming," a Keizer Police spokesman added. The suspect fled the area, but was later found on 14TH Street near Harmony Drive, by assisting officers. The suspect, Marcelo Moreno-Iniguez from Salem, was arrested and lodged at the Marion County Correctional Facility. The victim had several lacerations and broken facial bones, but her injuries were not life threatening. Editor: I am disappointed that you are apologizing for doing accurate and appropriate reporting. Since when is it shameful or degrading to be the victim of a crime? By giving in to this political correctness you have just told this victim that she is somehow responsible for what happened to her and should be ashamed. WRONG!!! She should be proud that she did not let this low-life slimeball violate her.

While it was provided by the police, we regret having published the victim's name this morning. It is generally our policy not to do so and the story has been revised.

Wow, couldn't agree more with Ummmmm. It's outrageous to expose the poor woman in this way. SJ had the decency to withhold her identity.

As if the victim doesn't suffer enough, you publish her name? Yeah, way to go.
