State Police and DEA Move on Junction City Home Locating Several Meth Labs

(JUNCTION CITY) - State Police say that following a nearly two-month long investigation into an individual known to be manufacturing and selling methamphetamine, detectives and DEA agents served a search warrant Saturday morning that led to the man's arrest and the discovery of four separate meth labs on the property west of Junction City.

On Saturday, August 26th at 5:00 AM, State Police detectives with the Governor's Methamphetamine Initiative Team were joined by DEA agents from Eugene, a chemist from the San Francisco DEA crime laboratory, and members of the Oregon State Police Special Weapons and Tacticts Team.

Together, they executed a state search warrant at 24751 Lavell Road which is approximately 9 miles west of Junction City in rural Lane County. The property owner, H61-year old Harley Harold Brewer was the focus of the investigation.

OSP SWAT members secured the property and took Brewer into custody without incident.

MIT detectives and DEA agents say they located four (4) separate methamphetamine laboratories on the property.

One functional meth lab was located in a barn on the property; one functional meth lab was located in Brewer's residence; and two meth labs were discovered buried in different locations on the property.

A large cache of chemicals associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine was recovered along with the needed glassware to cook methamphetamine, say police.

Governor Ted Kulongoski considers the meth empidemic the number one public safety problem facing Oregon, and sees this case as an example of the progess we are making against this epidemic.

"This lab shutdown is another in a long list of examples of how Oregon is leading the nation in this fight -- shutting down 77% of the state's meth labs last year alone," said Governor Kulongoski. "Our Oregon State Police provide a critical role in stopping meth from coming over our state's borders, and I am extremely grateful for their good work. This shutdown highlights the urgent need for 24/7 coverage for our state's roads and highways."

In addition to the drug-related evidence, MIT detectives located a stolen car, a stolen Harley Davidson motorcycle, and stolen Harley Davidson motorcycle parts and motors that had been altered with vehicle identification numbers having been ground off or removed. Methamphetamine, scales, packaging material were also discovered during the search of the property.

All hazardous chemicals and glassware associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine were disposed of by a hazardous chemical removal company.

MIT detectives spent more then 15 hours on the property processing the meth labs and collecting evidence.

Brewer was lodged at the Lane County Jail on the following nine charges:

1) Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance-Meth

2) Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance-Meth

3) Unlawful Manufacture of a Controlled Substance-Meth 4) Unlawful Possession of Precursor Chemicals with the intent to Manufacture Controlled Substance.

5) Unlawful Possession of Iodine

6) Unlawful Possession of Red phosphors

7) Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle (2 counts)

8) Unlawful Possession of Altered or Obliterate Vehicle Parts
