Israeli Education Ministry Approves New 'Whites Only' Settlement School

You have to wonder what the Southern Poverty Law Center has to say about this one...

(IMMANUEL, Occupied Palestine) - Several months ago, a religious school in the illegal Israeli settlement of Immanuel was criticized for segregating white Jewish students from non-white Jewish students in classes.

Originally, the school was fined for this policy of racial segregation, because the school was state funded.

Now, the Israeli education ministry has agreed with the white parents' request to allow the school to continue with its racial discrimination under private funding.

There is no law preventing racial discrimination by private organizations, even schools, in Israel.

The Israeli court has interpreted these laws to also apply to illegal West bank settlements, like Immanuel, which are located in areas that are supposed to be under Palestinian control.

The Palestinian Authority does not allow racial discrimination, but due to the Israeli military occupation of the Palestinian Territories, it has no authority over the area in question.

74 white girls who have been studying in a building next to the school will now be allowed to study in whites-only classrooms that are privately funded, as their parents claim they do not want their girls to study in racially-mixed classrooms.

Israel is the only nation with apartheid laws that is accepted as a full ally by the United States and other nations.

In fact the population of Israel has been discriminating openly and often viciously, since the inception of the Jewish state in 1947.

Arabs and other non-Jews are literally subjected to different laws; Palestinian children can be arrested at the age of eight years; jailed and regarded as a terrorist for throwing a rock at fully armed Israeli Defence Force soldiers.

It is a travesty of justice in the modern world that Israel's decades-long attempt to rid the land of native Palestinians has been allowed, approved and even funded.

"Israel is showing startling similarities to the Confederacy of the US Civil War; the last holdout for slave ownership in the western hemisphere." What? Segregation existed in the entire US during the civil war and many decades afterward. As for slavery, It existed in the north and the south and it wasn't abolished until 1865; 4 years after the south seceded from the union. In fact, the emancipation proclamation was passed in 1863 which freed slaves only in Confederate territory. Thus, according to US law, the slaves in the confederacy were proclaimed freedom before the slaves in the union and middle states. The civil war was over states rights, not slavery. Abolition of slavery was a tactic used by the union to break the south's backbone - farming; which was more reliant on slave labor than the north's industrialized factories. But the north did still have slaves and Abraham Lincoln would not have abolished slavery if he could reunite the union without it.

Israel is not the only country where "..there is no law preventing racial discrimination by private organizations, even schools". The same is true in the US. In both countries they are not allowed to receive public funding.

The Southern Poverty Law Center was created and is run by Jews, even one who goes to a Christian Church. So it's a safe bet that they have strong ties with Israel as do the majority of Jews around the world, and especially in the U.S. Congress who provides all their funding.

Tim King: Thanks Kevin, you are right on target and regular visitors know that I wrote harshly about this group a few months ago. I applaud their efforts to defend African-Americans, Asian, Hispanic and Jewish people, but only if they equally aid people of Arab and Muslim backgrounds; all people equally. They practice selective discrimination and I think very little of it.
