Dallas Police Seeking Reserve Officer Candidates

(DALLAS) - The Dallas Police Department is accepting applications for reserve police officers.

The department offers a four-step program which allows Dallas reserves to begin training with a full-time officer and work up to a solo position after extensive training and assessment.

All reserves are required to complete the Combined Agency Reserve Training, or CART, Reserve Academy held January through May, two nights per week and some Saturdays, in Polk County.

Upon completion of the Academy, reserves are required to complete a minimum of 24 patrol/training hours with the department each month.

Applicants must be 21 years old by June 2007, have a high school diploma or GED, possess a valid driver's license and reside in the Dallas area.

Applicants will take a written examination, a physical fitness test, and undergo an oral assessment, background investigation, psychological examination, medical exam and final interview with the chief of police.

Applications are available 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday to Friday at Dallas Police Department, 187 SE Court St.

This is just great, more taxes for more petty law enforcement. Why not put in a billion parking meters in Dallas to aggravate the people that pay the salaries, benefits, pensions and perks of these people. It is out of hand. And as Johnny Cochran said, "Who is going to police the police?" Don't expect Internal Affairs to do it. They only prosecute cops that do not play ball with friends of Internal Affairs or as a favor to some political hack like a judge or local town supervisor. Real wages adjusted for inflation are not going up. Who in the hell is suppose to pay for this garbage of petty law enforcement? Make sure not to spit on the sidwalk, even if a bug flew in your mouth!
