UPDATE: Search Underway for Man Missing from Campsite

(SANDY, Ore. ) - The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue team is currently conducting a search for a missing 55-year-old man who suffers from dementia and other medical issues.

Monday morning at about 6:30 a.m., the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to Dodge Park at 11021 SE. Lusted Rd, which is in unincorporated Clackamas County, to search for a reported missing endangered person.

The Sheriff's Office learned that 55-year-old Vernon Ray, known as "Keith" walked away from his campsite at about 1:30 a.m. and has not been seen since.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Team is currently doing a search of the land and waterways around the area.

Ray is described as 5'6, 160 pounds, brown hair, and hazel eyes and is clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a blue flannel shirt, black Dickie brand shorts, black sandals and a black baseball hat. Ray has a memory span of about five minutes and can not talk. He may respond to the name Keith if called out to.

Anyone who has seen or has any information about Vernon "Keith" Ray is urged to call 9-1-1 to report the spotting, and refer to CCSO Case number 2014-21830.

UPDATE 5:00 p.m.:

At about 12:30 p.m., search crews found Vernon Ray in a small ravine next to the Sandy River not far from Dodge Park. He appeared to be unharmed but was transported by AMR to MT. Hood Medical Center for a checkup.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Search and rescue team was assisted by Mountain Wave Search and Rescue, Pacific Northwest Search and Rescue, the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol and the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Dive Team.
