Ducks Picked to Finish 5th in Pac-12 Volleyball

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - The Oregon volleyball team was selected fifth in the Pac-12 preseason coaches’ poll, Wednesday, while senior outside hitter Liz Brenner was named to the preseason all-conference team.

The Ducks are coming off a fourth-place conference finish in 2013 with a 12-8 mark in conference and 20-12 overall. Oregon finished the season ranked 24th by the AVCA after exiting the NCAA tournament in the second round.

Oregon received 70 points in the poll, tied with California and three points behind fourth-place Arizona State. Stanford and USC topped the poll with five first-place votes apiece along with 114 and 113 points, respectively.

Brenner was named to the preseason conference team after making the All-Pac-12 team as both a sophomore and a junior. She returns for her senior season as the conference leader in kills and points in 2013.

The volleyball team will be in action for the Green and Yellow Exhibition, Saturday, Aug. 16 beginning at 7 p.m. at Matthew Knight Arena. The second of two scrimmages will be against an alumnae team, Aug. 23 at 7 p.m.
