(BORING, Ore. ) - The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating the suspects involved in an armed robbery of a man, and his family, who were going to purchase a used car he found on Craigslist. Clackamas County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sergeant Dan Kraus says deputies responded to the report of an armed robbery Thursday night at 10:40 p.m. at 27910 SE Dee Street in Boring, Ore. The male victim was going to purchase a vehicle he had found on Craigslist and communicated with the seller via telephone and they agreed to meet at a Boring gas station after the seller got off work, and the buyer agreed to bring the purchase amount in cash with him. When the victim and his family arrived at the gas station at about 10:30 p.m., the seller called and told him to drive to "his" nearby home at 27910 SE Dee Street. When the victim arrived in the area he noticed that the home was dark. They stopped in front of the home and when they did, they were confronted by two armed men with semi-automatic handguns. One of the suspects pressed the handgun into the victim's forehead and demanded the money. He then tried to pull the victim through the window of the car. The other suspect tried to open the driver's door. The victims were able to drive away and immediately call 9-1-1. The suspects did not obtain the cash from the victim. The suspects are described only as two white males, possibly in their 20's, wearing dark clothing and dark masks. Police later discovered that the home where the victim had been told to go to was abandoned. Police also found the vehicle plate was on the Craigslist advertisement, matched a stolen vehicle report from Clackamas County, Oregon. The plate is Oregon VBW 632. The victim was not aware of the stolen vehicle information. Police are still searching for the stolen vehicle, and the suspects involved in this crime. If you have any information on this case, call the CCSO Tip Line -- by phone at 503-723-4949. Kraus added that anybody purchasing items via Craigslist or other internet sites should exercise extreme caution in meeting the other party. Meetings should always occur in public places. Best locations have video surveillance and high volumes of traffic. Cash transactions present additional danger. Source: Clackamas County Sheriff's Office
