Search for Missing Oregon Mom Will Continue Through the Weekend

The Newberg-Dundee Police Department is receiving many tips and potential leads and they will follow-up on each one, investigators said.

(NEWBERG, Ore. ) - The search for a missing Oregon mother who vanished after getting gas from a Newberg gas station last week, will continue through the weekend Salem-News.com has learned, even though two law enforcement agencies say they have exhausted all leads, and will stop for now.

Despite some media reports in Oregon saying the search is coming to an official "end", police, family, and friends of 38-year-old Jennifer Huston don't see it that way, and will continue their search for her on the ground handing out fliers of the missing woman at various events taking place throughout the Willamette Valley. Several police agencies will also continue their searchers by land, water, and air during regular patrols.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office has been since Monday, and will continue, to patrol the Detroit Lake recreational area and surrounding parks and forest lands, using marine, patrol and forest deputies and cadets, investigators said.

Yamhill County officials conducted a final aerial search for Huston, checking rural roads and remote locations. A plane searched more than 150 square miles of Yamhill County for several hours Friday morning but found no signs of Huston or her vehicle, Captain Tim Svenson of Yamhill County Sheriff's Office said. He added that their aerial and ground searches will now end, and won't be resumed unless police receive new information on Huston's whereabouts.

Searchers can go to the Find Jennifer Huston page on Facebook, and find an interactive map where those who have searched areas for the missing mom, can post the locations where they have searched also so others can focus on other locations in Oregon and Washington State.

On Wednesday, searchers used a helicopter to search Parrot Mountain, Bald Peak, Hagg Lake, and the Willamette River from Champoeg State Park to the Wheatland Ferry near Keizer. On the ground searches also took place in these areas, and even one person drove from Washington State, through Dundee, to Lincoln City on the Oregon Coast looking for any sign of Jennifer or her vehicle. Police river patrol boats have gone up and down the Willamette River the past couple of days as well.

The Tillamook County Sheriff's Office has been using their SAR deputies and volunteers to search rural portions and forest lands of Tillamook County that adjoin Yamhill County. The Oregon State Police has completed a search of all Oregon major transportation routes to include state parks and highway pullouts. Some rural portions of Washington County were searched in the Gaston and Laurelwood areas by Newberg-Dundee Police Department, on Thursday.

While law enforcement, family and friends have been checking several areas, as noted above, investigators still do not have any information as to Huston's specific or general location. The Newberg-Dundee Police Department continues to receive multiple tips and potential leads and they will continue to triage and follow-up on each one, investigators said.

An updated bulletin asking for all law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for Huston and her vehicle was sent out again on Wednesday to all western states which includes Washington, Idaho, Oregon, California and Alaska. A search of the San Juan islands in Washington state, where Huston and her family liked to visit, has turned up no clues.

Huston, a stay at home mom of two boys ages 3 and 6, was last seen July 24 in Newberg at the Circle K - 76 around 6:32 p.m. She left her home in Dundee to run errands she told her husband after being "stressed out".

Detectives believe that she filled the fuel tank, and it is not known if she purchased fuel anywhere else, and the expected travelling range of Huston's vehicle on a tank of fuel is approximately 300-350 miles. Huston had several favorite places that she would visit with her family within the 300-350 mile range of Newberg, detectives added. Her cell phone has been turned off or deactivated, and so far nobody has used any of her credit cards police said. Also her husband Kallen, has been cooperative through several interviews with police and has passed a polygraph examination.

As Salem-News.com was first to report, the family posted Sunday on the Find Jennifer Huston Facebook page, that they are offering a reward for information that bring Jennifer back home.

Since last week, police have been working around the clock, along with friends, family members, and even complete strangers nationwide, trying to locate Huston, or her vehicle, a dark green 1999 Lexus SUV with Oregon license WXH-011. Police added new information late Tuesday on the vehicle, that it has a "U" shaped crack in the windshield on the passenger side and there is a Yakima Ski Rack mounted on the roof. Huston is described as white, average build, 5'7, should length blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing black yoga pants with black and pink Nike running shoes.

Surveillance video shows Huston purchasing gas Thursday and she appeared to be alone Newberg-Dundee Police Captain Jeff Kosmicki said. Video also caught Huston on purchasing Gatorade, a package of trail mix and a package of over the counter sleep aid pills from a local Rite Aide Drug store, just before she purchased gas. Kosmicki added that as of this time, there is no known criminal nexus to this case, nor is there any known threat to the public. The case is being handled as a missing persons case.
