Suspected Hit and Run Driver Surrenders to Police

(MCMINNVILLE) - The driver suspected of fleeing the scene of a serious injury traffic crash early Saturday morning on Highway 18 near McMinnville has turned himself in to Oregon State Police.

Juan Olmedo Llamas is accused of driving the car that caused a serious injury hit and run traffic crash occurred on Highway 18 milepost 47. The area of the traffic crash is within the city of McMinnville near the McMinnville Hospital. Police say Llamas fled the scene on foot.

Two Vancouver, Washington residents were injured, and of them is being treated at Legacy Emanuel Hospital for serious burns.

A cooperative effort among the Oregon State Police McMinnville Patrol Office, The Yamhill County Sheriff's Office, and the McMinnville Police Department Preceded the arrest of Llamas Sunday afternoon at 4:30 PM.

Juan Olmedo Llamas faces several charges related to the crash:

-Assault in the Second Degree -Assault in the Fourth Degree -Fail to Perform Duties of a Driver Involved in an Injury Crash -Reckless Driving -Recklessly Endangering Another Person (2 counts)

Mr. Llamas was lodged at the Yamhill County Jail, with a total bail of $180,000.
