(SALEM) - The Oregon Liquor Control Commission appointed Steve Pharo acting executive director of the state agency, to replace Teresa Kaiser, who resigned, effective May 15th.

Pharo, 57, is OLCC distilled spirits program director and has been with the agency since October 1994.

`We`re pleased to have Steve as our chief executive during this important time for the agency," said Philip Lang, OLCC chairman. `He has broad experience working inside the commission. We feel that as a leader, Steve will instill renewed confidence in the OLCC - for our staff, our partners and the people of Oregon."

`We`ve had a personal tragedy here with our previous director, but they agency`s important work must and will continue," said Pharo. `We are moving ahead in a positive manner and I look forward to this challenge."

As distilled spirits program director, Pharo has been a member of the OLCC`s executive team and oversees the wholesale, operations and retailing of distilled spirits throughout Oregon.

Pharo has a B.A. degree from the University of Alabama and an MBA from George Fox University. He is a retired colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.

Previously, he held management positions in business in Portland and Vancouver.
